TERRENCE (TERRY) OSBORNE is a prairie landscape artist.
Terry was born and educated in Regina, Saskatchewan. He obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Saskatchewan, Regina Campus, in 1974, and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Regina in 1981. He received a variety of scholarships, awards and grants throughout his years of study, including the Illingworth Kerr Landscape Award for Painting in 1973, and a Saskatchewan Arts Board Grant for a ten-month painting and study project at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, St. Etienne, France, in 1974-75. Terry later received a second Saskatchewan Arts Board Grant for a studio construction project in 1981.
Terry’s diverse art exhibitions span a period of over thirty years. Many of his paintings and drawings are in the collections of organizations and private individuals in Canada and abroad.
Over the years Terry has conducted many workshops in painting, drawing and clay for children, adults and senior citizens in Regina and rural Saskatchewan. After more than thirty years of teaching visual art, including twenty-six years at Lumsden High School, Terry retired from teaching in 2009. He lived in the Republic of Korea (South) for much of 2009-2010, where he continued painting.
In 2011, Terry built a new studio in Strasbourg, SK, where he devotes his time to his art.
Terry’s art statement is simple: "I like paint. Each painting is its own adventure and has its own dialogue. As long as I am sensitive to that, the art works."
