fine arts and fine crafts in the Last Mountain Lake area
For DONITA FICHTER, the experience of growing up on a farm in Saskatchewan in the 1960's and 1970's became the foundation upon which her spirit of love for the beauty and peacefulness of nature and the simple world was built. The deep connection with this beauty became her inspiration amplified in her art work.
Presently residing in rural Saskatchewan, on an acreage just outside of Strasbourg, Donita has recently stepped into the pursuit of her art full time and has transformed an old building in Strasbourg into a working studio, gallery and picture framing business, called the "What If?" Gallery.
Donita is self-taught and creates artwork in a variety of mediums, such as oil and acrylic, ink and graphite, as well as intricate polymer clay sculptural pieces. To sum up Donita’s art, she would say that "Art is in the very heart of me, and I simply must follow and pursue the call”.
